How the NDIS prices a shift
Most core supports, such as help with self-care, community access and supported independent living, have a separate support item for each time of day and day of the week. The price limit rises from weekday daytime, through evenings and nights, to Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Picking the right item is what decides the price, so the band matters as much as the hours.
Three things that change the price
- When it starts and finishes. The band is set by the whole support, not by the hour: a weekday overnight shift is a night support from start to finish.
- Where it happens. Remote (MM 6) and Very Remote (MM 7) areas have higher limits for most supports.
- Whether it is a public holiday in the state or region where the support is delivered.
Every item this calculator uses links to its own page in the NDIS Price Guide, with all its prices and claiming flags. In Rostery, the right band item is chosen for every shift automatically when it is rostered and invoiced.

Questions people ask
What are the NDIS time bands?
For supports other than nursing, Weekday Daytime is a support that starts at or after 6 am and ends by 8 pm; Weekday Evening starts at or after 8 pm and ends by midnight; Weekday Night runs past midnight into the next weekday, or starts before 6 am. Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday supports start at or after midnight the night before and end by midnight of that day.
What happens when a shift crosses from daytime into evening?
The NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27 says that where a support crosses between different times of day or days of week and is delivered by a single worker, the higher of the amounts applies to the whole support. So a weekday 6 pm to 10 pm shift is claimed entirely at the Weekday Evening price. If two workers share the shift, each worker’s part is priced on its own.
How do I price a group-based support?
Under the Pricing Schedule, the amount a provider may claim from each participant is the applicable maximum amount divided by the number of people in the group. Enter the group size and the calculator shows the amount for each participant.
Does a weekday overnight shift count as night for the whole shift?
Yes. A support that starts at or before midnight on a weekday and finishes after midnight on the next weekday is a Weekday Night support for its whole length, under the Pricing Schedule definitions.
When do the remote and very remote prices apply?
When the support is delivered in a Modified Monash Model 6 (Remote) or MM 7 (Very Remote) area, or in a town the NDIA has reclassified as remote or very remote in Part 3 of the Pricing Schedule. If no remote amount is listed for a support, no remote loading applies.
Are NDIS prices GST inclusive?
Yes. Every maximum amount in the Pricing Schedule already includes any GST. Most NDIS supports are GST-free, and the price limit is the most you can charge either way.
How are sleepovers priced?
A night-time sleepover is a support that starts before midnight, finishes after it, runs for 8 hours or more and lets the worker sleep. It is claimed per night at its own item. If more than 2 hours of active support is given, the third and later hours can be claimed at Saturday rates on a weekday, or at the day’s rate on a weekend or public holiday.
