Who claims the registered nurse rate

The Pricing Schedule ties this price to a Registered Nurse – Level 1 (RN1) under the Nurses Award 2020 (A.5.1). A registered nurse has completed the prescribed education, shown competence to practise and is registered under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law. NDIS nursing supports respond to a participant’s disability-related health needs where that care is not the usual responsibility of the health system.

When each nursing rate applies

Nursing has its own time-of-day rules in the 2026-27 Pricing Schedule. They changed this year: in 2025-26 a nursing weekday daytime support was one that started before 12 noon and finished the same day.

Worked examples

  • A registered nurse visit from 9 am to 11 am on a Tuesday is weekday daytime: 2 hours × $128.05 = $256.10.
  • A visit from 4 pm to 7 pm on a Tuesday starts after noon and finishes after 6 pm, so the whole visit is weekday evening: 3 hours × $141.27 = $423.81. A support worker doing the same hours would still be on the daytime rate.
  • A 2-hour visit on a Saturday: 2 hours × $182.75 = $365.50.

For 2026-27 the NDIA’s Annual Pricing Review indexed nursing price limits with an 80/20 weighting of the Wage Price Index and the Consumer Price Index (Recommendation 4).

Questions people ask

What is the NDIS price limit for a registered nurse in 2026-27?

$128.05 an hour on a weekday daytime, $141.27 weekday evening, $143.90 weekday night, $182.75 Saturday, $210.09 Sunday and $237.43 on a public holiday, nationally. Remote limits are 40% higher and very remote 50% higher.

How much did NDIS registered nurse rates rise for 2026-27?

The weekday daytime limit went from $123.65 to $128.05 (+$4.40 (+3.6%)), and every other time of day rose by about the same share. For 2026-27 the NDIA’s Annual Pricing Review indexed nursing price limits with an 80/20 weighting of the Wage Price Index and the Consumer Price Index (Recommendation 4).

When does the nursing evening rate start?

For nursing, a weekday support that starts at or after 12 noon and finishes after 6 pm is a Weekday Evening support. That is different from other NDIS supports, where daytime runs to 8 pm. A nursing visit from 4 pm to 7 pm on a weekday is therefore claimed at the evening rate.

Which item number does a registered nurse use?

Each time of day has two numbers at the same price: one starting 01_ that is paid from the Core budget, and one starting 15_ paid from Capacity Building (Improved Daily Living). For a weekday daytime visit they are 01_606_0114_1_1 and 15_406_0114_1_3. Use the one that matches the participant’s funded budget.

Can nursing travel, cancellations and reports be claimed?

Yes. The 2026-27 catalogue allows provider travel, short-notice cancellations, non-face-to-face supports and NDIA requested reports on every nursing item, under the conditions in the Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits and if the service agreement allows them.
