Electronic Visit Verification is becoming a standard expectation for NDIS service delivery. Here's how EVV works, why it matters, and what good EVV looks like in practice.

What Is EVV?

Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) is a technology system that digitally verifies that in-home and community support visits actually occurred. It captures: who provided the service, when the service began and ended, where the service was provided, and what service was provided.

Why EVV Matters for NDIS Providers

EVV provides proof of service delivery — increasingly required by the NDIS Commission during audits and participant complaints. It also eliminates time fraud (workers claiming hours they didn't work) and provides coordinators with real-time visibility into service delivery.

What Good EVV Looks Like

Basic GPS clock-in is not sufficient EVV. Comprehensive EVV should include: GPS coordinates at clock-in and clock-out, continuous location logging throughout the shift (not just at start/end), geofence verification against the participant's registered address, tamper-proof timestamps with cryptographic signatures, and audit-ready export reports.

Rostery's EVV System

Rostery's EVV captures GPS coordinates to within 5 metres via the carer mobile app. Location logs are taken at clock-in, clock-out, and every 15 minutes during the shift. Records are stored with cryptographic hash signatures — making them court-admissible in the event of a participant dispute or Fair Work investigation. Geofence alerts notify coordinators if a worker clocks in more than 200m from the participant's address. EVV audit reports export in one click in the format required by the NDIS Commission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does EVV work without mobile data? Yes — Rostery's app works offline and syncs when connectivity returns. Can participants see EVV records? Yes, via the Family Portal. How long are EVV records retained? 7 years, in accordance with NDIS record-keeping requirements.
